Freaky Days (A Mystic Caravan Mystery Book 1) Kindle Edition
Poet Parker is Romani by birth and a fortune teller by choice. As a member of Mystic Caravan Circus, she’s spent the past ten years using her psychic talents to tell people what their future holds by day and hunting paranormal monsters by night.
You see, Mystic Caravan is more than just a circus – it’s also a force of good in a world that needs help fighting evil.
Poet is set in her ways – and happy with her life – until Kade Denton shows up and upends the entire operation. He’s loud and proud – and Poet doesn’t like anyone telling her what to do.
As the new head of security, Kade thinks his only job is going to be tackling drunken revelers when they get out of hand. He’s in for a rude – and bloody – awakening.
When monsters strike and the truth comes out, Kade finds he has to learn on the job with Poet as his somewhat reluctant instructor.
Sparks are flying – both real and figurative – and when a truly terrible beast targets the circus for extermination it’s all magical hands on deck for the final showdown.
Some things are born evil, but the people in Mystic Caravan were born to fight it.
Prepare to be amazed.

Moonstone Baychanges when a grandmother she didn’t even know existed dies and leaves her a fabulous lighthouse on Moonstone Bay Island. Hadley, ready for an adventure, decides to check things out and finds herself plunged into a world she never envisioned. |
Wicked Witches of the MidwestBay Winchester is having a tough week. As the local editor of Hemlock Cove's only newspaper, she just happens to be present when a body is found in an area corn maze. To make matters worse, the police believe the murder may have something to do with the occult. This wouldn't be a problem for a normal reporter, but since Bay is descended from a well-known line of actual witches, the town is understandably on edge. Between the suspicious townspeople, the befuddled police presence and that random hot biker guy that may or may not have something to do with the murder -- Bay has her hands full. When you add the typical family problems, multiplying ghosts -- and one monster of a zit that she's sure came from her aunt's curse -- Bay is just struggling to make it through the week. Of course, when the killer sets his sights on Bay, things could get a whole lot worse. |
Death Gate Grim Reapers ThrillersIsabella “Izzy” Sage spent her formative years on Belle Isle in Detroit, playing next to the gate that separates the living from the dead as her parents drew a paycheck from the grim reaper council. Then the impossible happened, tragedy struck, and Izzy found herself an orphan. Her grandfather took her away and raised her among the Bruja in New Orleans, although her heart always longed to return to the gate … which felt so much like a part of her. Now, as an adult, Izzy has worked her way up to gatekeeper status and she’s back in the place her childhood ended. She’s the one in charge now … although things don’t go how she hoped. On her very first day, the gate is breached, and the wraith that crosses over is not only murderous but enhanced. Izzy wants to be in charge, but the local reaper council needs help so they send back-up in the form of a magical reaping family. The Grimlocks are loud, boisterous and used to a good fight. They're about to get one, with Izzy at their side. |
Spells AngelsScout Randall is more than a witch on a motorcycle. She’s more than the magic she wields. She’s also a woman with a secret past that she can’t remember … a sarcastic wonder who acts before she thinks. The one thing Scout knows with absolute certainty is that she’s got a purpose in life … and that purpose is fighting evil. That’s why she joined the Spells Angels, a biker group with offices all across the world. It’s because of the group that she finds herself in Hawthorne Hollow, where magic is out in the open and Scout finds her powers are constantly on display. She was transferred to the town because they needed help, although no one will tell her what happened to the woman who held the position before her and she’s constantly distracted by the local denizens, including Gunner Stratton, a shifter with a history he would rather keep to himself. Scout is determined to do her job … even if it means taking on the rising dead in Hawthorne Hollow. |

About the author
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic. Must read for young ( clean) and young at heart.
I think this particular series just won't be for me. The writing is good, the characters are believable and different, and the concept is interesting, especially the circus piece with the added monster hunter thing going on behind the scenes. All of it reeled me in from the very beginning but after finishing the book, I know I'm not interested in reading any more in the series. Max owns a supernatural circus and is like a father to Poet who runs the day to day operations. The book opens with Max informing Poet that Kade is the new head of security and her boss when it comes to everything security, but Kade knows nothing about the supernatural. I guessed right that Kade was Max's son, especially when we kept getting from Max a desire for Poet to stay out of his personal life when she persisted in asking questions.
Poet is the circus manager with a lot of responsibility on her shoulders. She has loveable Luke as a best friend, and I absolutely loved him from start to finish and secretly hoped something would develop between him and Poet after reading the first few paragraphs, but could tell that it wasn't going to happen fairly early on in the book after the opening. We learn late in the book that Luke is gay and though they do love one another, he and Poet won't be anything more than friends.
While managing the circus, Poet and the other supernaturals who run it draw evil to them and take care of the evil whether it be human or another supernatural as they travel across the country. It was a good way to slowly introduce more creatures into the story without a data dump and made it easier to get a grasp on things. I liked how the circus group worked together as a unit and Nellie with axe in tow made me laugh more than once. Sid the Clown turned out to be sick and had his own agenda so he's out after this book though I was disappointed that we didn't get a description of what Max could do when he eliminated Sid.
Something I didn't appreciate much was Poet and how juvenile she was about Kade and her attraction to him. She and Raven competing for him but Poet bowing out but being jealous and petty but still falling for Kade and him her but Poet using Luke as a buffer since Kade didn't understand their relationship because even though Luke and Poet say they're friends, they're really close and could be perceived as more if you don't know. It was so much more annoying to read when we're talking about adults. Then again, the word immature came up in relation to the circus community so there could be a point there. I liked that Kade addressed it like an adult and laid out that he was interested in Poet and not Raven. Poet seems to be feeling herself falling too so wants to take things slow. I wasn't up for another book of almost but not quite because one obstacle after another was shoved into their paths that needed to be resolved first. This one had enough interruptions for their stolen kisses and the big supernatural reveal. Since this ended with Poet guessing Kade was Max's son and agreeing to give Max a week to tell him, all while knowing how much Kade hates lies, I can already roll my eyes at how that will play out in another book.
